My New Legacy

Alayna's Story
Generation One

Chapter Four

What Dreams Are Made Of

The next day, afternoon actually, Alayna woke up feeling restless.  She had woke up in her own bed, still puzzled by how she got there since she had blacked out in the woods.

The truth was; it was a dream.  It had to be.  Unicorns were not real and if they were why would they bother with her.  They wouldn't,  and now that she thought about it the unicorn sounded a lot like her father.   Hadn't she heard him say a hundred times to quit being so selfish.   Her dream was just a way for his words to sink in.

Yes, she had been selfish.

She was starting to realize what her parents were saying, but was it enough for them to take her back.  What if she apologize to them telling them she learnt her lesson.

She called them telling her father of her dream and what it meant, and how sorry she was, and how she missed them.

She could hear her father's voice crack and realized he was actually crying.  She had never seen or heard her father cry before.

"Daddy," she whispered.  Hoping that this meant she could come home.

"I'm sorry, sweetie," her father's voice said.  It was low and cracked with emotions.   "But your mother and I don't think it is enough.  This is about learning, and finding your way.  You have only been gone now for 3 days.   You have spent a lifetime being a spoil child.  I don't see how you can change your ways in 3 days.  You might come back and want to be better, but I think it wont last the week.  You need tough love, sweetie.  I'm sorry.  We miss you and love you very much, but you are an young adult now.  You need to take care of yourself and need to learn that not everything can be given to you.  Take care, sweetie.  I'll call you later this week.  We love you, bye."  And then he hung up.

Once again, Alayna felt heartbroken.  Tough love, indeed.  Alayna sat on her bed for a long time crying.  She buried her face within her hands and sobbed.  How could her life be so turned around?  Just 4 days ago, she was living in a mansion, sleeping on her beautiful canopy bed in her beautiful large bedroom, having meals prepared for her by one of the best chef's in Bridgeport, hanging out with her friends, shopping whenever and where ever she wanted, being chauffeured around to all the best places, and so much more.

Now look at her.  She only had a few clothes to her name.  She was living on a large piece of land, but it might as well be a dump, since she didn't actually have a roof over her head.

There were so many things she missed, but as she set there she realized a couch would be a nice thing to have, four walls were a nice thing to have, a roof over her head was a nice thing to have.

She looked around at the few things she had and realized she needed money.

She walked over to the easel and began painting.  She painted most of the day.

Soon the sun began to set and Alayna realize she hadn't talked to Christopher all day.

It was pretty late, so she settled with just chatting with him on the phone.  They talked for a long time.  Alayna had at first just wanted Christopher Steel for just money, a marriage and to get her parents off her back.  But the more she talked to him the more she liked him.  He was funny, charming, and they had a lot in common, believe it or not.

She finally had to say goodnight to him, and find something to eat.  Salads were easy to make and actually quite filling.  She was surprise.  When she lived at home, their chef usually made lamb chops, or roasted duck, or something along that order.  They had 3 course meals every evening.

Alayna missed it, and being with her family.  She even missed the company of the chef, and butler, and the maid.  They were all very nice people and Alayna just never realize all the great things they did for her on a daily basis.

She went to sleep that night wishing now she hadn't taken everything for granted, but right now she would settle for some actually walls, and a roof over her head.  She thought she would miss the big stuff; like shopping, hanging out with friends, swimming in the pool, and so forth, but she actually missed the little things; like having a comfortable bed, or a sofa, even a stove, although, she didn't really know how to cook.

She needed to make some money just to finally get a sofa.  She fell asleep thinking she needed to paint more.

So ends Chapter Four.  I hope you enjoy.  Sorry so short.  Thank you for reading.
