Cora Helms

100 Baby Challenge

Chapter Eight

The next morning, Cora went and took care of Arye and potty trained him.

However, she forgot to pay her bills and the bill collector came.

She took the door alarm and nothing else.  Thank goodness.

Cora decided not to let it get her down.  Her 2nd baby was due soon and she still needed to teach Arye his life skills.

Afterwards, she called Conner Frio and talked to him on the phone.  She couldn't invite him over, because Thornton was still here.

She was still pretty mad at him for not sleeping in her bed.  Yes, she was using him, but it didn't give him the right to use her.

However, she guessed she shouldn't be so mad at him.  She was using him for a Baby Challenge.  She didn't know if he knew that or not.  Maybe, he did.  Maybe, he didn't.  She wondered if she should say something to him.

But she was afraid she would get her feelings hurt.  What if he did know about the challenge and that was the only reason he was with her.

Yes, she was using him for the challenge, but she did truly like him a lot.

Cora laid down.  She was feeling tired and needed a nap.  While she slept, Thornton went into the room and looked at himself.

He knew he was blessed with good looks and he wasn't exactly a one woman man.  He just couldn't commit to relationships.  He never could.

Cora was great.  She was sweet and kind and she was a great mother, but he decided that she could keep the kids.  He just couldn't commit to the whole family life.

After a while Cora got up and made them salad.  They set together for once, but didn't really talk.  Cora could sense something was up with Thornton, but he wasn't exactly talking.

Cora knew she had to forget about Thornton.  This challenge wasn't about falling in love, it was about having babies with different men.  Cora couldn't commit to Thornton, but she sense that he didn't want to anyway.

Cora took care of Arye and finally went to bed.  She didn't ask Thornton to stay this time.

Thornton taking the hint, left.    He was glad that he was going, but also a little sad.  He felt bad that he couldn't give Cora what she needed, a true family.   He could never be a husband and he liked having kids, but they are a lot of work.  He didn't really want to raise the children.  He was still young and full of life.

Soon, he was just going to have to be honest with her.
